Patrick Lee

My family moved from Hong Kong to the U.S. when I was 10 years old. My fondest memory is of my mother buying me my first bike so that I could wander the countryside of North Carolina. Having a bike gave me new horizons and allowed me to discover new friends when everything felt unknown at the time. In 2013 I moved to California and now reside in the East Bay across from San Francisco. Seven years ago, the sense of childhood freedom appealed to me most when I went on my first road ride.  Now cycling is where I find mindfulness, health and fitness, to balance between work and family life.  My interests in photography stems from the intriguing aspect of storytelling through the lens while traveling the world.  The prospect of capturing subtle details and emotions (through candid moments) excites me. Recently film photography has provided me a completely different perspective and creative mindset to photography. Film slows me down to be more aware and appreciative of the subtle beauty of my surroundings. The results, good or bad, is timeless and it's always a continuous learning experience. Cycling and photography is very intertwined in my life right now and I gotta say, it’s pretty exciting.
